What the evidence says

Ambient temperature is not the temperature experienced by electrolytic capacitors, power modules or inductors. Solar gain, blocked airflow, enclosure recirculation and dust loading can create a much hotter internal mission profile than the weather report suggests.

Coastal and agricultural sites add corrosion, condensation, insects and conductive contamination. An IP rating helps describe ingress protection under a test method; it does not replace inspection of cable glands, drainage, coatings, ventilation and maintenance access.

Repeated operation near thermal or current limits consumes more margin than an occasional nameplate condition. Real load distribution, reactive-power duty, clipping, overload and switching frequency should therefore appear in the lifecycle review.

Availability is a system property. A technically repairable inverter can still create weeks of downtime if event logs, configuration backups, trained technicians, compatible spares or safe bypass procedures are missing.

What a business should do next

  1. Measure or conservatively bound equipment-room and enclosure temperatures at the worst operating hour, then verify the offered derating curve.
  2. Include cleaning, fan and filter inspection, torque checks, thermography and configuration backup in the operating plan with named owners.
  3. Request field references from genuinely comparable climate, enclosure and duty conditions; treat unrelated installation counts as weak evidence.
  4. Contract the event-log export, settings ownership, supported firmware period, response time and replacement route—not only the hardware warranty.
